Welcome to the 2026 season on the River Devon and Glenquey Reservoir.
Glenquey is fishing well by all accounts, with David Mudie reporting “enjoying fishing the North Bank where the trout are certainly averaging 8 oz. It seems that the South Bank is harbouring a lot of the smaller fish probably because of a plentiful supply of chironomids in the shallower water. The Reservoir is still at a fairly high level but not going over the spillway“

Unfortunately early in the season the Police had to be called twice to poaching activity, thankfully since there hasn’t been a repeat but we request members and visitors to be vigilant.

There has been a noted drop off in catch returns, please try and complete a catch return and place in the box by the car park. Your name and address will be entered into a monthly draw with a PRIZE of a single free Glenquey permit. The first winner was A Gibson of Alloa!
On the Devon, we have started the new season like the last two with the river mostly running on (cold) compensation water from Castlehill. The storms and heavy rain of the last few weeks have had little impact on the river levels. My own experience is fishing has been quite hard with a very sore hip and only limited rising fish, but I have landed trout using nymphs down the edges of riffles. That said, a member has posted on Facebook of landing a fresh decent 4lb sea trout on a nymph; which probably came into the river on the spring tide at the start of the month. Hopefully as we approach the traditional T in the Park weekend in early July, we will have some typical T in the Park weather ……… a nice combination of heat and ‘stoating it down’!
