IMPORTANT NOTICE – Fishing on the River Devon temporarily suspended

Like a number of other fisheries in the catchment and further afield, concern has been raised about the impact on fish health caused by high water temperature and low flows. Today members of the committee checked a number of locations on the Devon and found water temperatures even in the shade at or about 19C. The advice provided by River Forth Trust and Forth District Salmon Fishery Board is fishing should stop when water temperatures reach 19C.

Accordingly we have made the tough decision to immediately TEMPORARILY SUSPEND FISHING ON THE RIVER DEVON until further notice, to ensure the well being of all species of fish.

The weather forecast is suggesting a trend to much cooler temperatures with cloud and rain, to quote the latest Met Office forecast for Central, Tayside & Fife:

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Bright spells with scattered heavy showers on Sunday. Mostly cloudy with showery rain on Monday, perhaps heavy and thundery. Brighter and cooler on Tuesday with a fresh northerly breeze.

Updated: 17:00 (UTC+1) on Fri 12 Aug 2022

Hopefully the combination from Monday of rain, lower temperatures, cloud cover and compensation water from Castlehill, will make the suspension a temporary blip.

Conditions at Glenquey are under review this weekend

Apologies to all our members for any inconvenience or disappointment, but the decision has been made in the best interest of the overall fishery.
